Along with earning all-conference honors for his play, Volk helped lead the way offensively for Nebraska quarterback Eric Crouch who won the 2001 Heisman Trophy. I have worked with him in the past, and from both a professional and personal standpoint, I know Dave is going to do an outstanding job working with our staff and student-athletes and be a valuable part of our football family."Īn All-Big 12 offensive tackle for the University of Nebraska, and Big-12 All-Academic Team member, Volk finished his collegiate career as a team captain for the 2001 Cornhuskers who went 11-2 and played in the Rose Bowl. As a coach, he has coached in our conference and at the high school level in Texas. "As a player, he played at the highest level of football. Volk replaces former offensive line coach Danny Friend who recently accepted a position as an assistant coach at his alma mater and Big 10 program Indiana University.
